How To Accept Christ

The decision to follow Christ is the most important choice you will make in life. If you are interested in accepting Christ as the Lord of your life and enjoying eternal life in His presence, there are a few things concerning salvation that need to be realized and done.
  • Realize that all have sinned and need a Savior. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). "If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." (I John 1:8).

  •  Repent of sin. "No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish." (Luke 13:3). "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out." (Acts 3:19).

  •  Confess your sins to God. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (I John 1:9). "For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” (Romans 10:10).

  •  Forsake sin. "Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon." (Isaiah 55:7).

  • Believe in the finished work of Christ on the cross. "For God so loved the world,[a] that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16).

  • Receive Christ into your heart by faith. "But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God," (John 1:12).

  • Proclaim Jesus as Lord. "Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved…For ‘everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'" (Romans 10:9,13).

    More Scriptures on Salvation

"Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life." (John 6:47)

"Then he brought them out and said, ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’ And they said, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.’" (Acts 16:30,31)

"But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Ephesians 2:8,9)

"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin." (I John 1:7)

    Sinner's Prayer

If you want to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, pray the simple prayer below to God, and sincerely mean it in your heart.

"Dear God in heaven, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I'm so sorry for my sins and for the life I have lived. I ask You for forgiveness and to cleanse me with Your blood from all unrighteousness. You said in Your Holy Word, Romans 10:9, if we confess the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead, we shall be saved. Right now I confess Jesus Christ as the Lord of my soul. With my heart, I believe that God raised Him from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved. Thank You, Jesus, for dying for me and giving me eternal life. Amen."
